done

So yes, I did finish this novel today. I had no idea how it was going to end, but I'm quite happy with it, and now feel like the next four days are truly ones I can take off (mostly) and not feel anything is hanging over my head!

I was telling my husband when a book is done, it's like not having to know that pressure of what's coming next coupled with just the sheer joy of having completed a book! Both are equal, then there's the rest of it.

Which is sort of vague. Free time (until the next novel) and no more of having those characters forming in my head or those songs associated with those characters playing. The next characters are in line, waiting their turn. Fielder, Bev, you're outta here!

But in the most gentle, loving way. I really enjoyed these people, and now they've been put to bed. With that, the next stage for this novel is the initial read-through on my iTouch, taking notes, seeing what is wrong, needs shuffling, etc. Not sure when that will be done, plenty of other irons in the fire. For now is just the sweetness that it's finished, and I won't be writing in the morning!

nearly there

So I'm ALMOST done. One more chapter, to be written tomorrow.

So close! But it just wasn't meant to be over, not quite yet. I want to say tomorrow for sure, but will delay that, don't want to get that cocky!

Nevertheless, the work trudges on, lots of dialogue today, plenty to say on Bev's part, then on Fielder's.

Tomorrow... I'm not sure. Bert and Grover are going to meet, but what about Lacey, Tom, Sabrina...

Quentin, Leah... What about Nettie?

This time in twenty-four hours, I hope have answers to all those questions...

long day

Sometimes the best intentions are lost to many interruptions. Sometimes just to one girl.

My youngest daughter is getting ready to leave home, and today was her last day of work. At eight-thirty, having read thought yesterday's chapter, I asked her if she needed a ride. She said yes.

I didn't bother trying to start work. I'm a little... anal about that. Once I start writing, I really don't stop.

So instead I faffed about, and when she was ready to do fifteen minutes later, we drove away, and my gas light went on. Another task on the list.

Another was her busted cell phone, what we'd tackle after she was done, after I picked her up. First I dropped her off, then got petrol. Then arrived home and finally started writing a long-ish chapter around twenty to ten.

It was done around a quarter after twelve, at which time I ate some lunch, folded a load of towels I'd started earlier. Then I considered if I was actually going to get one more written today, as I had planned. When youngest daughter called from work asking for an earlier retrieval, I thought, well, maybe I will...

The phone store experience was so-so, in that yeah, her phone is toast, but that she's eligible for a new one, as long as she signs up for a two year contract. She's willing to buy the phone (a paycheck in her hand incentive) so now it's a matter of what she'll choose, if she'll try to fund a data plan on her new I don't live at home anymore budget.

But what does this have to do with writing?

When we got home, I went to work, plowing through another chapter, then deciding tomorrow will be it. Jettisoning one I'd considered, if I can write two tomorrow, that will do the trick, at least for this first draft. Two of the last three I've written I will add another chapter to, having read them over, seeing where some help was needed. Maybe this one will be the same. All I know is tomorrow, God willing, I'll wrap up this book, then dive headlong into making sure my girl has all her ducks in a row.

She's really not packing any ducks, none that I know of.

I wasn't going to forget today!

But as it's nearly bedtime, all I'll record is the word count, then I'm out for the count!

It went well, that I will say. And tomorrow is another day...

it's been days...

But the writing has happened. Let's see where I left off...

Looks like Wednesday, with sex. That's funny! Since then there's been plenty of it, oh yes! Plus about seven more chapters added. All sorts of sex and intrigue.

The writing has been happening with much ease, I think this will end up around 80K, was thinking for a while it might be longer, but no, another five chapters to go, thereabouts. They'll have to be substantial, maybe a sixth for good measure, but an average novel, for what it's worth.

At this point, I have no idea what any of them are worth!

Only the time it takes me to write them, and I don't know the reason for that either. It's been a hard couple of days emotionally, and at 4.55 PM I feel like I could just sleep and sleep. Instead it's time to make dinner, but as my husband is going to BBQ, all I have for tasks are to slice cheese and onions, saute the onions, setting the cheese on a plate. That's it.

Good thing, for I'm just beat!

love scenes

Really, sex scenes, but more about love than lovemaking.

Or what happens when people think too much about sex, or love, or trying to deduce what someone else thinks about it.

Also about bad backs, that too.

It's fun to write, I have no trouble with it. Maybe due to how I feel about my own spouse, or that there's nothing wrong with humans sharing physical passion. Americans seem to squirm, but if it's violence, no problem with splattering the wall with gore.

But love; such a tricky topic. Yet, I find it not all that tough to pen those sorts of moments, whether it's the nitty gritty or something more ethereal, which was today's chapter. A mix of actual sex and what swirls above it, for lovemaking isn't only bodies, it's what lies within, in the heart, in the mind.

The best part of sex, at least looking back at it, remains in memory. We're not constantly in bed, although that might be a lovely place to be, but for the rest of the day there rests in the brain what it meant, why it happened, might it occur again?

For Fielder and Bev, well, we'll see...

still skipping

And I don't mean too, shucks!

So, I wrote yesterday and today, forgot to blog about yesterday's. I've figured out a small system; on the days I don't take my early morning walk, I'll write two chapters, like today.

On days I DO walk, one chapter. Which was yesterday. So in the last three days, I've written three chapters. Tomorrow I will write one.

If that stays as is, I'll finish up around the end of the month, the beginning of July. Which will be just fine.

The writing is coming along, as it usually does. Today Fielder and Bev realized what they felt for each other. That was fun. Tomorrow will be as well, as they explore those notions.

Heh heh heh...
